I bought the device to content from iTunes from my computer to stream into the living room (movies music etc) and to content from iPad / iPhone on the TV to see.
That works wonderfully. No complicated setup required.
-The Rent and watch movies directly from the store is quite expensive and massively dependent on the bandwidth of all internet streams, of course. For me with DSL3000 only SD is meaningful without eternal waiting times.
-That The device supports only 720p output does not bother me personally, the network bandwidth to stream HD I anyway with me not to mention the very high speed.
-According Longer I have the equipment, the more enthusiastic I am.
Have the Apple TV connected to both my TV and my stereo. So I can when I get home at night simply (with left and right keys) my stream music from the iPhone on AppleTV. To start without my computer. Great thing. Rent movies I have ever tested and found to be neat but not used.
- You can control the ATV with (almost) any remote control. In the menu just teach the remote control, press a few buttons and you're done. Great if you still have a free device on the universal remote control. The Little Apple Remote is indeed chic, disappear because of their size but, if you in the couch crevices.
-For Me a clear conclusion, if neither iTunes nor other Apple devices used for making the AppleTV no sense. Since you can also various other streaming boxes set etc. As a supplement / in conjunction with other Apple devices replaced this small box at a reasonable price really a complete HTPC and without any configuration effort.
NOTE: I recently replaced my router to a Telekom Speedport W921V. This worked in any way with the AppleTV. Despite port forwarding all traffic was blocked, can not connect to iTunes on the PC possible and also to stream from the iPhone on the ATV was no longer possible. I then exchanged again the W921V. Maybe it was just a special local problem with me, but I want other users to warn that there could be trouble.
