Personally, I have only two best-of compilations of MJ: KING OF POP and Number Ones. Compared to the last CD KING OF POP cuts significantly better, because ...
... 1 .: The material scope is lush. This set consists of two CDs with a total of 32 titles. The Number Ones, however, is rather sparse with only 18 tracks.
... 2 .: The assortment is very diverse and successful. Since the fans were allowed to choose, really on the discs also the essence (eg BILLIE JEAN, THRILLER, BAD, EARTH SONG) with many successful offerings. If I remember right, for example, the beautiful duet with Paul McCartney Say Say Say is represented on any other pure MJ-recordings. It's great that he has been re-released in this way on a body of work. Surprising: It represented some songs that have never been published in Germany as a single, album tracks so. From the last album INVINCIBLE are for example in addition to the single You Rock My World nor the recommended titles SPEECHLESS and whatever happens with Carlos Santana found on King of Pop. Hauntingly beautiful vocal with bonds at BILLIE JEAN: WE'VE HAD ENOUGH, another non-EP number.
... 3 .: The ingenious THRILLER MEGAMIX it is alone worth buying the compilation. Nine minutes is a good piece long and skillfully processed passages from Billie Jean, Thriller, Wanna Be Startin 'Somethin', PYT and BEAT IT. Since no legs remain rooted.
A small gripe I have, however. Why was CD 1 from exhausted? The second disc is approximately 79 minutes at full capacity, understandably, with CD1 one but could have frittered still loose six minutes playing time. Radio Edits, cuts of well-known songs so therefore are unintelligible to the first sound carrier. As with Number Ones was for example also in the THRILLER atmospheric intro, which consists of Türk fools and introductory synths, removed. Just why? So you have THRILLER robbed a little charm and geniality. One thing I must in this context, however, yet to admit: The song cuts comply with KING OF POP in general as opposed to Number Ones still limited. Therefore, there is no deduction in the standings.
Conclusion: Those who do not want to buy all studio albums by Michael Jackson and instead only looks for the big hits, is priced and content probably best served with KING OF POP. So: Number Ones leave links and prefer to buy these deeper insight into MJ's long career.
5 stars for the successful compilation and 5 stars for Michael Jackson's artistic genius. The name of the CD says it all. He is and will remain forever the King of Pop. RIP!
