Promise me I'm never gonna find you faking it

I personally do not like to go into depth with the contents of a book into a review. Judging from the other reviews I strongly suspect the perceptions vary as to what the book anyway is really about.

The book does not offer a classic linear plot of any sort but rather several chapters Which are, while being set in different places at different times around different people, more or less connected. The way the chapters are connected is Generally very clever. If you read the book over sometime (as I did) you may need to go back once or twice to grasp the connection.

I really liked the character descriptions and in general the rather witty observation of everyday social interaction and the psychological portrait of the Protagonists (Given the natural limitations due to the concept of the plot being split up into different semi-independant chapters).

The book in my opinion is Weakest When looking into the future, giving us the hint of some doom and gloom and how we might interact (technically and socially). While of course this is not a science fiction novel and maybe not even THEREFORE intents to give us any sort of in-depth idea of ​​the future, the way you learn about the future is a bit confusing and remains shallow, Although I'd like to think I Understood what the author wanted to express here.

Otherwise the book is well crafted and I appreciate its style and language.

All in all for me "The Visit from the Goon Squad" is an interesting take on growing up and what it Means to stay true to oneself and others over the course of time. Maybe not my favorite book or anything like that but very memorable in any case. I would advise it to anyone interested in modern English literature, who does not mind the slightly experimental (but interesting) concept.
