For the small NEX-6, the flash is indeed really something great, but what can you do when you need a lot of light times. The handling is still surprisingly good. After all needs of Metz, in contrast to Sony HVL-20 on the NEX-6, which already owns the Multi Interface Shoe, no Adapter, because that would be even more rich the flash up and make the connection to the camera unstable (in small and light HVL-20 the adapter interferes contrast as good as not at all).
The technical function with the NEX-6, also in the TTL auto mode is properly (not always a given with "foreign" -Blitzen, but from an established manufacturer like Metz we must of course expect). The only thing I did not manage to be flashing with a faster shutter speed than the flash sync speed of the NEX-6 (1/160 sec.). It is probably so that the NEX-6 to high-speed sync is not supported simple (despite the presence of focal plane shutter). Since I still have time to investigate, but for me it would be no big deal.
*** Update on 05/02/2015: High Speed Sync (TTL HSS is put on the flash!) Is fine, but only when the flash head is in the 0 ° position. Swings to the head for bounce flash upward, the camera automatically adjusts the shutter speed to 1/160 sec. High. A small restriction (the Sony and not responsible for Metz), with which one can live also fine. Faster shutter speeds are indeed especially when fill-in flash outdoors where typically abundant light is present, but you would still like to work with an open aperture, important. ***
The only problem - but that's a fundamental Sony "disease" and not the fault of Metz - is that the lightning fast tendency to blooming. Here helps testing and a corresponding flash exposure in the camera.
As for the features, hardly a wish remains unfulfilled. So you can set the zoom reflector to full-frame or APS-C format among others even to achieve the greatest possible range and the lowest possible energy consumption. Wireless as master or slave, the Metz also work, but for me that is not of interest, therefore not tested (for lack of second device).
Otherwise, the operation of the device is no mystery and has, thanks to the practical touch displays, largely intuitively without long study of the manual possible. With four AA Eneloop batteries fitted (alkaline and lithium AA batteries are also explicitly released), is the time required for charging the flash capacitor and the flash recycle time absolutely in the usual for this class of device area.
With the original Mecablitz diffuser, I have the same coacquired (although it is a few euros more expensive than replicas, but provides two grids on the one hand for optimum fit and on the other hand that is usefully dangers when using the diffuser of the reflector in the wide-angle position) will result in a very nice soft lighting.
General tip for lightning in artificial light: A piece Lee trim 204 film, the clips before the reflector or stick with tape. If possible, use the diffuser, then adjust the reflector head to 60-90 °. (Is thus captured as much ambient light) Set camera white balance to Tungsten, ISO 800 or even higher, 1/30 sec. (May be shorter depending on the subject) and large aperture (small f-number). Thus, the flash acts only as a "brightener" at about the same color temperature as the ambient light (3200K at the Lee 204), what beautiful, produces natural-looking images that quite unlike the usual "dead flashed" images with deep, dark background or the often bizarre images are acting with strong yellowish or bluish color cast.
*** Update on 05/02/2015: Two other noteworthy points:
(1) For some time now I have an Alpha 6000 as a second body. The Metz works with this perfectly.
(2) Up to and including. Firmware version 1.1 there are occasional errors in exposure in the manner that the flash elicits at full power. This issue is also mentioned in other reviews here. There is an error in the flash firmware, the Metz has successfully eliminated with version 1.2 (released in late November 2014). It proves to be a great advantage that you can easily in a few minutes can even update the firmware of the flash. ***
