The story is narrated by Nick Carraway, who is Gatsby's neighbor, gold, the central character of the book remains Gatsby.
At first glance, seems to be Gatsby someone wealthy, reclusive in his property, surrounded by servants. Stereotypes want the man to be arrogant or mean to others, gold is a different personality sported this Gatsby.
When Nick starts to get to know this man, he finds that all the ideas he had made on his character turn out distorted. Gatsby is an adorable but be very lonely, is to fill this solitude that one would think that organizes all these great parties at night ... something that will prove false to half thereafter. This is a character who remains mysterious throughout the novel, even after the last page is turned. It is simple, it seems smart, and he has a kindness and generosity claimed.
During this short story too, I was struck by the story from beginning to end. The end also particularly marked me, I felt a lot of emotions while reading these last lines.
I will not be telling you what happens towards the end of the story (I leave you surprised to find out for yourself), but the cowardice of men and afflicted me angry!
Beyond this, Francis Scott Fitzgerald shows how one can succeed in life from scratch. But as the proverb puts it, "money does not buy happiness", will quickly discover that our dear Gatsby.
The author also addresses the theme of betrayal, which will prove fatal here. Too bad he did not dig deeper this theme. It should also have developed his characters a bit more, especially towards the end; I've kept a semblance of unfinished ....
Lu in record time, this very short novel is very successful. I loved the overall feel of the book, and writing Francis Scott Fitzgerald was literally washed away. Highly recommend!
After reading this masterpiece, it remains for me to go see the movie with Leonardo Dicaprio ... hoping it will live up to the book!
