If the musical style there are no big surprise in the hard rock punk trend Danko Jones, in the words there is a small shift. It no longer speaks too much sex but rather to break, or at least complicated relationship between the singer and his conquests. It changes a little but cons, we feel that the boy is somewhat nervous or angry in some pieces and all this hatred is transformed into creative and musical energy of the most successful.
I said Danko Jones is in direct, the "in-your-face", the "in-your-mouth", no frills: just a great song line, an edgy riff but has nothing dexceptionnel and a good chorus catchy. That's the formula. From time to time, it places a small break that will, we are sure, wonder or a live mini guitar solo (rather a lead that takes up the theme of the song).
This is pure live energy, size twelve centimeters in diameter, listening hard. One could cite almost all the songs as the album is homogeneous. No longer song four minutes, with very good hard rock (Wild Woman, Live Forever, She Aint Coming Home), punk rock (Gonna Be A Fight Tonight, Body Bags, Do You Wanna Rock, Piranha) of choirs to Iron Maiden (The Twisting Knife, Body Bags) and stuff that remind Motörhead (Watch You slide). The game John Calabrese is always excellent (globally follows the guitar, but instead inspired and subtle variations). On a song like Gonna Be A Fight Tonight, his contribution in the sound is downright essential. The game Rich Knox does not appear specifically in the mix, except the very punk rock song Do You Wanna Rock, on which its handling of the cow bell (yeah, the cowbell) is exceptionally groovy and moves the piece in the top three of the best of the album (with She Aint Coming Home and The Twisting Knife).
Another very good vintage Danko Jones, who lets nothing and only continues to produce dexcellents hard rock albums (this is the seventh he should perhaps you wake up, guys), one behind the other. The Canadian trio certainly deserves more recognition of this side from the Atlantic. I could not tell you whether it will be thanks to this album, the previous or the next, but one thing is certain: when it will live in your neighborhood, do not hesitate more than a second!
