Quality problems, problem child WLAN

The Xoro 9720 offers a lot for the money: Lots of accessories supplied and great specifications.

The display is very nice and the tablet is responding afloat. Nothing wrong with that. The mechanical construction expected to solid. Only the on / off switch wobbled slightly in its slot (OK, not so tragic).

The Display Glass is obviously not a Gorilla Glass, but probably just any plastic. So I guess the scratches risk as relatively high and a screen protector is mandatory. However, this is already installed in the factory. Very nice.

I've read it a larger PDF textbook: Works very well. Moving is very fluid and due to the screen resolution is too small font legible. The charging time when scrolling or jumping in PDF (= speed of the flash memory) is not short, but perfectly acceptable for me. For the pad was primarily intended.

Battery life seems quite long, after my test evening (much Internet, read PDF and rumscrollen, play video) was the battery indicator still at 85%.

But the problem is the WiFi. Ok, that the range is not quite as good as in my notebook is bearable. As long as one is next to the base station (fixed on 802.11g = 54Mbit), everything is OK. Once you get something but removed and the signal display breaks to a bar, there will be regular (!) Disconnections. The WLAN is then off so all 2-3 minutes for about 10 seconds. It comes by itself again (no reboot or so necessary) and in between it works well. This one can but forget streaming or transferring large files. This can be a hardware or a software problem.

I do not get it. If you read in the various forums and reviews Xoro since pre-predecessor 9718 WLAN problems. What shoud that?

The pad has me actually liked it very much. But a chain is only so as good as the weakest link. Because the stupid wireless disaster I have to send it back, unfortunately.

Update after 3 days

The return procedure shall be part of the shipper bit chewy (not bad), so I still had time over the weekend to investigate the tray a little closer.

The wireless behavior is slowly beginning to stabilize. The disconnections occur much less frequently, but the reception quality schwangt still unmotivated. Somehow seem a shock - to show effect - albeit indefinable. I therefore believe that the problem of poor RF connectors goes on WLAN module or the wireless antenna. They were probably still 10ct too cheap. If the device could open, you could probably fix the error easily. However, it looks as if the wireless sensitivity would stabilize at a worse level. So still definitely a case for the service.

I had criticized the wobbly on / off switch at the top. Now I know of a case where this did not work the same for a new device.

The speakers are quite mau, but in terms of size no miracles are always to be expected. Who wants to watch movie, should resort to Kopfhöhrern or external speakers. To lull asleep with an audio book but it was enough probably.

The Xoro support threw übrigends not reach. Call duration and was occupied on an email was after 3 working days even no answer there.

If the quality problems would not, the Xoro 9720 would be a real strong tablet. For the price anyway. I therefore put the stars a bit high compared to my initial assessment.
