The red ball is very convenient, even with an investment in a hurry you can easily tune the level by loosening and tightening central stem to block everything. If we had to find faults we say it is a bit cumbersome (see a pattern then four sections) and plastic key for clamping tubes that attaches to one of them. This key may be lost if it is detached and I advocate using a wire-type element to prevent unintentional opening. Those holes were probably intended for this purpose.
