Eizo EV2736WFS-BK 68.6 cm (27 inch) LED monitor (DVI, 6ms response time) black (Personal Computers)

Customer Review

I have not purchased the monitor here, but my review is likely to still have full relevance and be of interest.

I had five of the equipment with me. Four replacement devices. Everything I expected for 800 Euros, is a device without professional features, with contemporary quality expected as part of the technically possible. Instead, I had to notice that appear to be at the moment flawless equipment the exception. Following discussions with the Eizo support is clear that manufacturers successfully speculate that many people have a bad hearing or accept without Mucken B-goods or that no great emphasis is placed on quality in the business sector for office work.
That post-financial crisis panic is more than anyway saved up, does not surprise me, but it's still intolerable.

The first monitor I got, had a scratch on the screen, I do not wegbekam with breathing on and a soft cloth. This has ever point to deficient care in handling by plant personnel.

With Eizo reclaims and get a replacement unit the next day. The occurred after about one hour more grayish smudges inside the display on.

Complained again, quickly get a third device. The then had defective pixels (Green + Blue defect in a pixel). This then has given me so slowly. Although is within pixel error class 1, but the first two devices had been faultless, I would have had no pixel errors. Furthermore, this device has a sloppy Rahmenguß who resuliert in bright shimmering stripes, but that is still tolerable and not too flashy. Looks just amateurish.

Complained again, quickly get a fourth device. Again a scratch on the screen! In addition, a very clear tinted bottom right corner. Looks like when you press a non-solid LCD. After a short operating time also came back to a pixel error and again greyish dirt shadow! Prompt then were joined by occasional Netzteilgeräuche. A buzz regardless of the image with brighter picture and / or a hochtoniges cheeping.
For a few minutes a thunderstorm also fly in the picture has become noticeable and then disappeared again. That was another point that shocked me: I would erwaret that this potentially devastating problem has now been resolved by year, but apparently not.

Complained again and this time advised that something is done differently. The device was thus allegedly examined before delivery by a technician. I have done at this point no real hopes more that this the Assessment the details of my case considered.
The now fifth unit arrived. Free of defects? It would be nice!
- Excessive backlight bleed in the left margin. So strong that it aufällt at a dark image even in daylight.
- Pixel error
- Dark corner at the bottom right, of borderline thickness.
- Various power supply noise.

Since Eizo did not undertake any further attempts and then handed me, I looked around to Alernativmodellen. My research then revealed the sobering finding that it does not matter if you buy a monitor for 500 or 1000 euros - certain deficiencies are always likely. There is no alternative. At present, the probability is high that you get displays with pixel errors and / or sloppy Beleuchtungsabisolierung and / or noisy power supplies. Maid no test results. These always refer only to a single model, and variations can be very large especially at low production quality in all respects.

I did so slowly no longer know what to do. Eizo looked unwilling / able to find a solution and talking came by a point of view that this lack of quality can be expected in this price range - was said not really made a clear statement as to whether these problems in professional equipment definitely not . occur An image uniformity correction helps eg little when an extreme brightness deviation pushes at the boundaries. Also, I do not need any calibration and also have no device for it.
Interesting info on the edge: LED lighting panels is just as attached rear as CCFLs, and Monitor manufacturers get the panel by panel manufacturers as one unit with lighting, ie regarding pixel defects, dirt inclusions and lighting shining through the sluts panel manufacturers..

I had to then decide to select one of the five devices, one having the fewest defects - supposedly less than what I expected from alternative models.
So I have only taken the first device with the scar in use. I dared then to go a bit more offensive and the scratch and could remove what made me very happy until this (apparently stubborn abrasion of anything) ... to me then noticed that this monitor has the bottom corners slightly darkened corners , diverse power supply noise is of itself and has left a borderline level of back light bleed, and less extreme, but very large area at other locations.

So there was only to take the only of the five monitors in operation, has a not muffed backlight: the third with the first pixel errors. He 'only' a minimal translucent lighting bottom left, slightly above the limit conspicuousness. I then fell here too easily darkened lower corners, but what could I have left?

I have waited a long time, my 19 "CRT with a TFT to replace, because I wanted to wait until the technology is more mature. Unfortunately, this strategy did not work. Older products are more often better than new, as more and more is scarce and saved up, but on Christmas price may of course not be wiggled. Damn it, I would have 900 euros for this monitor paid if he had distinguished himself by the absence of blunders. But at least for monitors nowadays Patzerfreiheit is apparently increasingly a privilege a much higher price range.
See 27 "-IPS monitors for less than 1000 euros as cheap models. And if you are unpretentious, then you do not waste 800 Euros if you get a IPS monitor even for 300 Euro. Color deviations or generally non-homogeneous light distribution does not fall when one considers the other hand, said Patzer.

I would advise anyone who is no money for professional price range (at least 1300, more 2,000 euros for 27 "), currently has to buy a monitor, because the quality average is abysmal. On the other hand I do not see any turnaround as manufacturers with this mesh drive well. There are even people that it matters nothing to buy at full price B-Ware. Something is obviously factored in the sales strategy.

Now a few other points off the above problem:

- The Eizo website says there is a USB cable in. This is not like that.

- Eizo ScreenManager Software control of the monitor (the OSD menu is structured somewhat illogical) does not work for this model with Windows XP. But is not so bad, because I really must change nothing. In general, this software works well with not irrelevant DisplayPort, but in my case. The only annoyance is that installing Button was just gray, without explanation. Manually install the software could, but did not start ... without any error message.

- ICM color profile beliegend? I could not find on the entire CD. That and the monitor driver (the latter in the normal mode is not really necessary, but in certain cases better) I then downloaded.

- Eizo Screen Slicer for screen layout programs take into account (as well as some other programs that I know of) is not a fixed (anchored above) taskbar. Thus disappearing menu bars behind the taskbar when I aligning programs to the layout. -> Useless

- Factory setting is 50% contrast and 100% brightness. Higher contrast brightens the image, but it looks unnatural. The brightness, I must, at 100, because the EcoView control in the two stages makes little difference and apparently knows only two states. In medium setting it darkens too early too far. With full brightness are only white faces in a relatively dark room a bit annoying, so I EcoView disabled. Otherwise everything except black text on a white background (= maximum contrast) would no longer be legible.

- OSD placement options are limited to the four corners and the center. I would have really liked to have the bottom center. Changes of settings are applied at each push of a button away. But if one waits too long, the menu jumps happy times back to the previous level.

- Overdrive can be at standard. The maximum setting improves the latency time as much as you would not expect, but generates significant white borders, as we know it from a higher sharpened photo. But I also see no need overdrive switch off, and the streaking is then recognized more.

- Energy consumption is about 45 watts. My 19 "CRT monitor consumes 120 watts personally irrelevant for me, but a nice advantage and also means less heat output 75 W -. In the summer a small advantage.

- The internal latency of the electronics is in direct comparison just as noticeably. I had created videos, in which the timing with music is relevant, and now they are no longer so perfect in timing. But should not be a problem since eh hardly anyone uses the latency-free CRT monitors.

- The transition from CRT to TFT, this has also meant that I see more dark color gradations. I had brushed out black in some images in supposedly black areas and now suddenly saw exactly where I had dark patterns übergepinselt.
