It lacks a fan of the show a little bit the words in this game. Had so happy about the release and pre-and of course also expected some bugs but what you get served was, at best, a beta version of the game! At the beginning I had no quasi performance problems, only eternally long waits despite SSD and lots of bugs. Now after 2 months to put aside the game I have to version 1.7 alluded again times and the conclusion is more than sobering.
- When the DLC fractions the game crashes now into a regularity that it is a pure pleasure, Athens has become virtually unplayable for me from round 50.
- The PCs now make up though times larger fractions yet they behave so stupid on the Kampange card and especially on the battlefield, that all this does not matter. Also nice of Sega: Total ridiculous enemy troops I have also on average difficulty attack personally, because when it calculated the computer, may not fight more people than a few farmers can, otherwise things will not go work out. Now if that is not an attempt is the season artificially drive up!
- For personal battles commanded it does not matter what difficulty you set and has what rank the opposing general, it is simply ridiculous just always the same frontal tactics and what the AI is allowed to sieges since just a shame!
Preliminary Conclusions:
But this massive fundamental error, let one no choice but to give this game 1 star, these circumstances can not be explained away simply by the biggest fanboys.
This review does not yet include the general development of the Total War series by Sega to which I would now like to speak critically below.
-The Number suggests since Empire Total War a path which massive simplification and takes the game increasingly strategic depth! This development has reached with Rome II in my opinion its peak.
- No own road
- No separate building defensive structures
- No specially putting up Vereidigungsarmeen
- Only rudimentary urban
- Only superficial economic influence: The really upsets me to the most! You can only move a few percentages etc.
- Trade has been massively simplified compared to Shogun II and Empire
To compensate for that one any micro-management has been taken, we must now leveling the generals and agents in the tradition of Shogun, only that are meaningless, because the characters are dying like flies, and the AI is always behaving like the last Depp!
The combo of sea battles and land would indeed have at least can give the game a little depth to the tactical level, but, well, the AI does it all to naught.
Endfazit:
Overall, the game does not allow better evaluation than 1 star, because of the massive errors, which have been mentioned already in the preliminary conclusion. It never ceases to amaze me that some of the community for understanding and attention to the pressure, which are exposed to the developer. I think no one makes the developers blame, sitting at their computers but the publisher should make this accusation indeed. Especially when he seemingly infinite amount of money for PR / commercials etc. outputs in Rome II. I also believe that there is no other product group, where parts of the customers take such massive errors in purchasing or even show understanding of how for PC games. You have to imagine this, here's products are sold that are not completed, partially are not playable. This should times or else try carmakers or DVDs anyone. But as players from EA, Sega and Co were quite well behaved it seems to me.
In addition, the franchise takes a course that tends more and more to a simplified approach, presumably to siphon off to more market segments and younger players to win as a buyer. This may well find his interceders, I personally do not like that. So I guess that the next part is offered as a console version (with Sega logical).
Until now I've got myself every title except Napoleon for release, the next part, I will, if anything get me just as a gold version for NEN 10er or so.
Here the game there 1 star
