Well, a couple's own words, I would like the review but then add.
After I saw that this new work by Lucinda Williams includes 20 songs, I had at first but concerns. Ultimately, there are too many examples where good musicians lose the sense of quality and quantity, and a well-intentioned double album but then often contains filler and as a perhaps quite a good standard factory with great songs on average somewhat `diluted 'is. Now, after repeated listening to this 20 songs is clear that these thoughts were completely unnecessary.
Lucinda has released 20 musical gems, all of which are classified -For my taste good and sensationally between.
The musician from Louisiana sings of the American Way of Life / the American Dream through the ups and downs of life; musically embedded in folk, country, blues and rock. Their songs touch a already on first hearing and what more could you want? It is no exaggeration at least since this album, the "Queen of Americana".
Almost all the songs are written by herself, only "Compassion" is based on a poem of her father and the last piece of Lucinda has conjured up a nearly 10-minute cover version of JJ Cale "Magnolia". It is one of the best cover version ever, a masterpiece and the brilliant highlight of the album for me.
It's nice that there are artists such as Lucinda, which not squint to musical trends or charts suitable criteria, simply make their music and still, or maybe therefore be respected not only in music critics.
