The build quality is mediocre. In our sample although there are no inaccuracies, which are problematic. In particular, but depends the door about two millimeters too low, which visually disturbs something. The function and the locking does not detract from previously. The door hinges hanging on two hooks from 1.5mm steel plate, which you probably can easily turn slightly upward at a pinch.
The interior of the cooking chamber (up to a back cover made of polished steel) coated matt and easy to clean. Side walls and floor are made of one piece, so that there are no chinks here.
The feet are made not of rubber but the front of hard plastic and rear bulges as the metal casing soil. Our granite countertop the device from slipping especially when opening the door to the front, if you do not firmly hold with one hand.
On the back side, there are four projections, which prevent the housing lies flat on a wall. For us the unit is facing a tiled backsplash, to which it can be so easily pushed. The deepest part of the housing starts in the rear area good 7 cm above the work surface, so that the housing does not come into contact with our granite plinth.
The thick power cable has been very short with about 80 cm length. It comes back right near the top of the housing. With us, the outlet is about 10 cm to the left of the left housing wall of the microwave. The skin just so out without the cables coming under tensile load.
During the 80 MW SL runs, her fan produces a clearly audible noise. The typical hum of the microwave unit is so quiet that it is drowned out by the noise on this machine. The fan runs by the way, even after the end of the heating process (beep) yet after a while.
The control elements are clearly arranged and function well, both the sensor keys as well as the round dial with its button in the middle. Per Quick Start button (the wheel or right) you start the appliance at maximum power for 30 seconds. Each additional keystroke increases by 30 seconds, you can end up with the stop button on the bottom left. This type of switching is practically - we use it by far the most. If a more precise setting is required, can be corrected by turning the setting wheel in increments of five seconds.
The various numbered function programs we rarely use. A bit awkward, I find, therefore, that one with the quick start can make only in the wake of a manual power adjustment in combination. Even without Quickstart is solved somewhat awkward (button "MW" rotation operating on dial for manual mode button "OK" on the dial, then impedance matching with the control dial).
The 80 MW SL has some useful function details. They can only be started when the door shortly before (and open) was closed. This prevents it starts running empty, perhaps because a curious child around tapping on the touch keys or you touch it accidentally while cleaning. The interior lighting switches itself off automatically after a while, even if the door remains open. The turntable can be stopped with a key operation, such as when you want to heat liquids.
It is very positive that the heat dissipation compared to our predecessors microwave (Whirlpool JT 369 BL) significantly more evenly fails, that there is in the heated via microwave food less heat nests.
We have the 80 MW SL now has three weeks in daily use. All family members, including our four year old daughter are at ease with it. We have bigger problems not been able to discover.
Conclusion
The MW 80 SL is a trouble-free device with useful additional functions. Performance and quality of workmanship are the current street price well appropriate (more than 50% below the recommended retail price is). The comments made above, I give an overall recommendation and four stars ****.
