Particularly noteworthy is the long battery life (up to 12h, normal operation with WLAN amongst others rather 8h), which is available in almost any other netbook in this price category. This was in addition to the low price of the main selling point, because during my backpacker holiday never knew exactly when once again is a power source nearby. A tray came to me out of the question, because I really need Office applications and some Windows programs on the netbook. Further technical details I leave the Product Details, test results (eg helpful I found the report of notebookcheck.com entitled "Review Asus Eee PC R052C-WHI002S Netbook" from 30.04.2012) as well as my pre- and Nachrednern. :)
In addition to those derived from the technical specifications expectations additionally features provided a positive surprise:
+ Multi-touch pad (to the 2- and 3-finger modes for scrolling, fore-aft browsing, zooming, etc. Open tab you get used to, unfortunately, far too quickly, so that the work in other awkward, older notebooks , yes is almost painfully)
+ Reasonable keyboard, despite its small size (compared to the Logitech K400 impossible - Keyword: Enter key)
Nevertheless, some changes are needed in order to increase the fun factor of the notebook. I (Win7 Starter) wanted to keep the existing OS, I have done the following changes:
1. aufhübschen: change the desktop background and themes (with the Windows 7 Starter version is not really possible)
2. pimp: Adding more memory to 4GB (3GB usable by patching the kernel, in the Win 7 Starter version is actually only 2 GB supported)

Change to 1 Desktopdesing

Since I prefer rather a bit dark (possibly also energy-saving?) Desktop theme, I first changed the background. For this, there are several instructions in the net. I signed up for the "Starter Background Changer" decided [Google search for "Renaud Gerson Starter Background Changer"]
Then I needed a background suitable for theme. To change the theme, you have to file aero.msstyle under "C: \ Windows \ Resources \ Themes \ Aero" share and run the "Universal Theme Patcher-x86.exe" as Admin. I particularly liked this theme (and manual patcher included in the zip file)

2. To RAM upgrade (incl. Kernel Patch)
**********************
The netbook I have expanded with 4GB RAM from Kingston.
For this purpose, first the BIOS needs to be updated (I have updated the BIOS version 1105; on ASUS support site). Since no "RAM-exchange-cover" is on the bottom, the whole motherboard has to be removed. After the following video tutorial but this has worked very well (a warranty seal is not destroyed; necessarily old credit card or something similar to open the geklipsten connections use):
[You Tube Search for "Asus 1025C Ram Upgrade" by Scott Getter]
Because the Windows 7 Starter version has a RAM of 2GB barrier, but I wanted to buy a new or Win32bit- Win64bit version in addition, I have these removed by following instructions from UNAWAVE:
[Google search for "UNAWAVE 4GB Patch selbermachen"]
In order for the graphics card to perform, however, you should upgrade before even the video card driver, or you will get a blue screen (I've updated to version 8.0.3.0.1089; about Intel support page Graphics Media Accelerator 3600 the series).
After creating the patch you have to still MSCONFIG -> tab "Start" -> select the boot sequence -> "Advanced Options ..." the maximum amount of memory to 3328 MB limit (3.25 GB), otherwise the video card driver does not work properly (although a higher value goes, but has no effect).
After this - admittedly complex - guide you can use 7 Starter version about 3 GB of RAM with the win. In the System Description will now be displayed: memory installed 4.00 GB (2.99 GB usable).
4.00 GB would also be used, if you manage to patch the video card driver. Would be easier but probably a 64bit Win7 version to use.

Interestingly - as with any notebook - even the exchange of HDD through an SSD. But a reasonable SSD almost makes up half the purchase price, I was not able to overcome it. Furthermore, it is the existing operating systems (Linux Asus Express Gate Cloud and Win 7 Starter) were gone.

CONCLUSION: With the expansion of the memory a very good netbook on the go. If you do not so great desire to kernel Patchwork has, I recommend to use rather only 2GB RAM, in which the power is also sufficient. Overall a very very good price-performance ratio (at 259) in relation to today's hip trays. I personally find it a great pity that ASUS will produce no future netbooks.
