I admit I struggled to get into the story. The author's writing style is quite heavy, she writes pages and pages on the thoughts of Cassie (the main character), but it is also something that is in line with the personality of the heroin. Let me explain: Cassie is a young woman who was raised by vampires, and more specifically by the vampire who killed his parents to exploit his gifts (she communicates with ghosts ... and more but I do not want to reveal!). Suddenly, Cassie flees, but in her run, she was found by vampires. I'll spare you the rest of the story would spoil the suspense. In short, Cassie is a rather complex personnge in his history and his way of seeing things and so it is normal that his thoughts are widely developed (especially at the beginning of the book). Despite the end of the heaviness of some passages, the story is interesting. Once hung, the book reads easily, it even has a few surprises and even a few known characters are dating. For character development, I expect to read more. I think the characters are not yet fully exploited, so I wait to see what the author holds for us in the next volume.
