The device has three grinding stages. The first stage is the coarse roughing and caused some erosion on the blade.
The second stage is the actual stage that ensures the sharpness. In the third stage the blade is removed and polished razor sharp.
If you switch on the device, so you can hear clearly run the electric driven grinding wheels. In asymmetric blades, it is recommended that at the first touch, and from time to time, a first main ground with the first stage perform. The knife is slowly initially pulled on one side by the device. The device ensures the correct angle. After one pass on one side, followed by a passage on the other side in each stage.
If the blade is bent, you have to change this a little at an angle. However, this is actually pretty good.
The noise during grinding are the first time a little frightening. But as it sounds now times when steel is sanded.
If the loops at both levels - the right and left, each with a swipe - finished, the blade can be polished in the third stage. This this is razor sharp. To test the sharpness, hold the blade without any pressure on the hair at the back of the head with the blade down. Bites the blade in the hair, so the desired sharpness is achieved. Slide it through, so the blade is not sharpened correctly.
When polishing the third stage, the blade must partly be repeatedly pulled on one side and on the other side. Partial several times only on one side until the blade gem. Hair sample is properly focused.
Please note the following:
Cheap knives or knives with very thin blades do not want to be really sharp. Serrated knife sharpening only on one side. Always read the manual first. Go knife with serrated I do not sharpen. Fahrtenmesser stainless steel do not want to be razor sharp. This is I think of the cheap quality of the steel in the knife, at which I've tried myself.
Due to the high Abtrages the rough-in stage 1, for resharpening just take the Level 2 and 3. Only when it is thus no longer focused properly, re-export a main ground with level 1.
On the back is a lever with which you can clean the wheels. An exchange of the grinding wheel appears to be not provided.
