- Drive cloning without the computer to charge. With 2TB large capacity storage devices, the process takes 7 to 8 hours and must not be interrupted. With this little box that goes without any problems.
- Quick look at what is on a plate on it. Without having the computer screw, to a plate during operation can just enter "retest" shortly.
Of course, I also know the small kits with SATA connector and power supply, which can be used to operate an internal drive to the USB port. But these are "flying" circuits, where you never know how to lie down the plate. In this little box the plates are secure and optimal air-cooled.
The USB 3.0 port can also be obtained by maximizing the performance of the plate. 110 to 130 MB / s are not uncommon. However, I noticed that clearly goes down during simultaneous access to both drives, the throughput. More than 2x 50 MB / s seems as not to be in there.
Cloning, note the following:
- Disconnect the USB cable from the computer
- Plates in the shaft insert (A: Source -> B: target), switch on the device
- Wait until the plates are ready (for safety's sake at least 1 minute, I was the first attempt something too impatient and because it has not worked out the same)
- Clone button 5s press (3s to instructions are too short)
- If the 100% LED lights up, then again briefly press the Clone button and off you go!
- At the end of all the LEDs light up continuously. Cloning is complete
If you put the cloned disk for the first time to the computer, then it can happen that it is displayed as "offline". Then you go into Disk Management and makes them manually online.
What else I find good:
- The box is decorated in black and looks classy, so they can also provide an eye-catcher on the shelf.
- In addition, a dust cover is supplied, which is due to open at the top shafts advantageous if you want to leave the unit unused for a while standing on the table.
By that I do not have to disconnect the cables for the dust cover, I cut the bodies concerned in the dust cover with scissors.
What I find not so good:
- The manual is quite good, although useful (typical Chinese-English, but of course), but printed extremely small. Because at my age one does already something hard.
- Both boards can be just thrown together. This seems to be because they have to share a USB port.
Conclusion: well-thought-out design, easy operation, stable.
