Early 70 was Albert Hammond a frequent visitor to the charts. He wrote and sang deeply sympathetic songs about freedom lived, love for women, concern for the environment - a son of the hippie era. His voice is fresh, alive and free - so his songs sound credible. The arrangements are hand-knitted - without psychedelic or electronic gadgets. He is a fine example of how to appeal grievances clear ("Down by the River"), without having to be so brooding and depressed to have. Simply refreshing. 4 stars because the originality of the songs varies - many are small treasures, a few mediocre. And because there are now also a double-CD compilation is the mini price.
