Replacement for a 555

My Harmony 555 was decrepit, failed the display. So buy something new, the remote control 650 or 700 seemed to be the lesser evil. Instead of 15 units, the two can only 8 units control (originally even only 5 or 6 devices).

Without "programming" is a remote control of course useless, so the first step is to choose the devices to be controlled by a software program and transfer the data to the remote. For the Harmony 700 you have to install the newer software 'myHarmony'. This happens without asking under ... so where actually? The destination folder can not be displayed on the desktop icon. However, it should be common nowadays to let the user choose the installation folder.

Then set up a user account. What is an "Email ID"? Apparently thinks Logitech thus a normal mail address, how come the only cause them to call the ID ???

When connecting the remote control, a window will "link to Mitgli ..." - the title bar is so choppy exactly shown. The rest is also mutilated. While I can for an automatic connection to setup website 'yes' or 'no' to select, but an OK button is not visible. Well, it's the year 2015 and it will be discussed about 4K, but even at 2560 x 1440 pixel screen resolution does not work properly.

Since I'm already registered with the Harmony 555, the copying of all devices on the 700 is possible instead everything refurnish. That worked ... oh yes, the old 'Harmony Remote Software' still active and has disturbed the synchronization.
After disconnecting the USB cable it comes with the Nerverei further: I want it and press that button, because Logitech wants to show me how to use the remote control.
A day later, I want to change the display key assignment. Works graphically by shifting. When synchronizing with 99% cancellation. The change appears to be transmitted anyway, at least I could find no fault.

The remote itself:
Ergnomisch better shaped than the 555. Instead of 4 times 2 times AA AAA cells. The rockers for volume and channel selection are further from the housing before the keys in the 555 and can be pressed better. The OK-buttons could be larger. In 555 when a key illumination lights around the Activity button on - at the 700 only a small icon appears on the display, do not like it so much.

Conclusion:
The Harmony 700 is quite ok, but the software is rather made to drive people to madness.
