MetaModern Sounds in Country Music (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Yes, yes, yes and yes! Yes, all the information and opinions that are circulating for a year on this recording Sturgill Simpson's in and around Nashville, agree. Because yes, it actually sounds like the small, not quite as dark night shady brother Jamey Johnson, with receding definitely nothing behind Johnson songwriting quality and above all a strikingly similar vocal coloring and -phrasierung. And yes, he is both in songwriting, as well as in a certain vocal coloring very close to Waylon, Waylon DEM, the Grandfather all outlaw Countrys. And yes, exactly this genre served Sturgill Simpson just also, Brother Johnson and Grandpa Jennings, one hundred percent - with a particular strength in the acoustic ballad-like songs ... no, this is deceptive, roll honkytonkend and rock rattling and bumpy he can at least as well, where else would the outlaw moderate Image ?!
I've now forgotten a yes - it'd give as a couple ?! He plays it all in first class because incredibly authentic quality - if I knew then, what is the only appropriate authenticity criterion would be for Outlaw Country, ultimately it's just a special attitude, a way of life (the explanation of what the accounts, see: somewhere otherwise). And yes, like Johnson and Jennings he finished the projects with an interesting band, from the coming of him from Estonia (!) Lead guitarist Laur Joamets. With his guitar primer, but especially with their swashbuckling fluttering solos, missed "Sturgill Simpson's razor-sharp axeman" the whole only really the swashbuckling outlaw Touch.

We are .... no, not at the next Yes, but the first real No: the guitar, so it provides the sound with a special Chrakteristik, provides on an ambivalent way simultaneously as the only limitation: the recording ends with It Is not All Flowers in a ghastly guitar collage that makes me see if the electric drill, which I do not own, has become independent on any wall - there was something out of hand the otherwise very complete alternative country and Country- rock production. Luckily, Dave Cobb needs - one of the currently most popular alt-country producers, which is just responsible for Jamey Johnson ... as far as one can be in charge of the - also found in the final mixing and resembled this shortcoming by the fact that He can come off sounding conciliatory with a hidden acoustic track, probably from the rehearsals for this recording, the CD now.

And no, these are not automatic five stars for recording, upscale four do it also. Even if I have to state that recording music in nothing behind the big shots "That Lonesome Song" and "The Guitar Song" - the two mega-work Jamey Johnson - back is, it stays with me due to technical defects (clink and distort individual - if it indeed at least all would - Tracks, star moderately technically sound behind the comparable Johnson recordings back on different equipment), which surprised because both Johnson CDs were nevertheless taken up by the same producer. This is not saved by when Simpson, despite Prasierungsähnlichkeit to the two brothers in the outlaw spirit which for me often gives almost unbearable Jennings Geknödel and compared with Johnson also writes the catchier songs. So four point four nine ...

PS. Can I ask someone what erkären "MetaModern Sounds" are ?!
