A truly epochal track with long seasons is not there. Apparently they have been finally adopted by acoustic guitars and rock ballads. Even long epics. Ignite it but quite a fireworks display. Rocking, melodic, concise ...
"Outsider" it might not be able to surpass the very ambitious predecessor album "Into The Wild". But it is absolutely on par. What the quality of the current Uriah Heep speaks .... Many a one is perhaps a highlight as it did miss "Trail Of Diamonds" ...
But not a single song on "Outsider" is qualitatively similar to those of "Into The Wild" by. Neither sound - recording or technically, yet seen from her songwriting. Mostly rock quickly, but some places still with progressive undertones. With many really beautiful, catchy melodies and brilliant backing choirs Uriah Heep remain their "Trade Marks" faithful. What do you call this stunning sound that no other same age band as fresh hinkriegt and can so skillfully put the listener in a positive mood? Modern Rock? Metal? Classic - Rock? Well a bit of everything ... But one thing is certain: This is straight rocked.
Both editions, the vinyl version and the CD were, on time (even one day before released!) Ago. The Cover - design is very well laid out, designed the motif of Igor Morski surrealistic. Maybe it awakens other musical expectations; more like Pink Floyd, Marillion or Supertramp ... But that makes the plate alone visually more interesting. Even more impressive is the painting on the back, which one sees both the inner part, when you open up the cover. Almost even better ... This could turn from a metal - derived band.
For the 2013 tragically deceased longtime bassist and songwriter Trevor Bolder suppliers who lost the fight against cancer, now Dave Rimmer ensures adequate replacement. A melodic, yes punchy aufspielender bass guitarist who is very close to the style of the late Gary Thain also from the early days. Uriah Heep are again set completely and very homogeneous.
You hear on the new album "Outsider" also. Unequivocally ... The band has the vivacity, the brilliant performance and dynamics of their current Live - actually projected into the studio work in concert. And here has created an uncompromising hard rock album. Without frippery. However, as I said, even without ballad and longer tracks that were formerly so loved. No song reaches the 6-minute mark.
A real-Heep Gassenhauer par excellence is "One Minute". Crisp, concise, catchy. The driving guitar lines of Mick Box, compelling rhythm. A typical single which begins with a wonderful quiet piano accompaniment. One thinks: Oh, a ballad, as before ... Piano for a long time no longer gave it. But far from it. The song starts officially by ... and ends with a longer fading chord organ (almost like "Stealin '" Sweet Freedom "1973).
From the opening track "Speed Of Sound" to the last song "Say Goodbye" are all songs of pure hard rock, as he is known by Uriah Heep since time immemorial. With striking riffs, solid Hammondorgel carpet, groovy drums, cascade-like choirs and polyphonic melodies. The whole moderately spiced with some snappy guitar solo - deposits, and a few more contemporary rock ingredients, such as the ultra-fast double -. Bass - deposits of the drummer Russel Gilbrook in "Speed Of Sound" or "Can not Take That Away". The catchy song "Rock The Foundation" (about a woman who wants to achieve in her job ...) is here quite well program.
"The Law" and "Is Anybody Gonna Help Me?" flirting with the early 1970s, to build harder wearing and quite progressive. Or the song "The Outsider", which also radiates classic progressive touch and also very fast-paced comes along. Similarly, "Can not Take That Away", which can entrain melodically and rhythmically. And then "Looking At You". So when would the part directly from the early 70s.
"Jessie" would be even more positive aspect with an initial - riff that somehow reminiscent of "Smoke On The Water". "Say Goodbye" is a great rocker with rabidly rolling reef and extremely perfect organ solo.
All songs have a very high recognition value. Act simultaneously fresh and modern.
Here is the track list of the album at a glance:
1. Speed Of Sound (melodic opener, outgoing with a nice organ solo; not the only ...)
2. One Minute (Oh, a ballad! Nee but not ... A real feel-good steam hammer ...)
3. The Law (Heavier midtempo - Prog - rock piece Typical "Aaah Aaaahs" Very good..!)
4. The Outsider (prog rock with Hells Tempo)
5. Rock The Foundation (rock loose, simple but catchy song in the current style)
6. Is Anybody Gonna Help Me? (Strongly reef and organ accented with 70 breath)
7. Looking At You (impulsive, very melodic, melody changes, good riffs, choruses, all there ... 70!)
8. Can not Take That Away (I like to listen as often ... gorgeous piece of rock)
9. Jessie (Smoke On The Water - reef, awesome guitar solo and catchy - potential)
10. Kiss The Rainbow (frenetically, very melodic, organ-break, as a Hensley - Song)
11. Say Goodbye (as it starts, ends the album, very rocky ... superb organ - Solo)
There is no real song - failure. Here all songs form an album as a unified whole. Everyone likes prefer another favorite. One thing is certain. You will find ...
"Outsider" joins not only very well in the last works of the band. No ... It impresses with straight polynuclear reef rock songs that are unparalleled. Anyway, I can honestly call nothing like it here. And the somewhat old-fashioned, but in this case, groovy Hammond organ? The make Deep Purple not better. That's just a very good, positive provoking Hard Rock. Bernie Shaw speeding up, overtaking vocally and interpretative itself. This is truly the "In Rock" album of Uriah Heep.
That `s the way in five (!) Versions. Those who wish can purchase two editions with T-shirt in every L or XL. Then there is the normal CD version in digipak and each a 180 - gram vinyl edition in "black" or "gray".
"Outsider" has become, in my opinion one of the best albums of Uriah Heep total. Who can do without ballads or long epic songs and this type melodic, fresh, but also traditionally rooted Hard - Rock generally with Hammond organ like, you can safely access. There is no need to be an uncompromising supporter of the band ...
