Now that it`s summertime, you don`t want to have an interesting, somekind of different book to read instead of magazines beside the pool? I recommend "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, a novel light-weight with serious content. Jonas, who lives in a structured community without any colors and feelings, is chosen to be the new Receiver of Memory. Surrounded by sameness, he founds out the secrets lying beneath the surface. Although "The Giver" contains some critical issues like abortion, infaticide, euthanasia and erotic fantasies, it gives you the chance to reflect your environment and future. I normally do not read books and dystopian When we first received this novel in our English class I did not have high exspactations. HOWEVER after reading the first few chapters I was captivated and finished the whole number of 136 pages within two weeks. The language, it's written in, is easy to understand even if you are not a native speaker like me. In brief I was pleasantly surprised and suggest this novel to everyone.
