Therefore, I have now decided to buy an external hard drive. These are available from different manufacturers and in different sizes (500GB / 750GB / 1TB / 1.5TB / 2TB). That is, one should look once which data volumes have actually accumulated on the hard disk of the PC. With me there were only 40 GB. I would accordingly be sufficient to use the smallest external hard drive, but wanted to be in the future also well equipped. A very good price / performance ratio was the assessed here Toshiba hard drive.
In addition to the price I had more buying criteria:
- Easy handling
- No extra power supply
- Modern USB 3.0 interface
After two days, the hard drive has been delivered. It was a wire here (one side USB 3.0 / USB 2.0 the other side).
Then everything happened very quickly. The service works like a USB flash drive. It connects the external hard drive to the USB 2.0 port on your PC. The software (I have Windows 7) recognizes the hard drive immediately and performs a brief software installation (about 5 seconds). After the hard drive is ready for use. Copying my 40GB to the external hard drive took about 50 minutes. This is of course dependent on the speed of the PC. Here I am no longer up to date. With newer PCs, this transmission time will be much shorter.
Once I had all the data on the hard drive, I copied everything again on a laptop. This lasted only 35 minutes. Now I have two PCs on exactly the same data and do not have to constantly transfer data with USB sticks. The hard drive is extremely quiet, I heard only a very low hum.
With the product, I am very satisfied. For me it is an ideal storage solution and manage currently the best-selling external hard drive on Amazon.
I can recommend buying.
