For years, I ascend the Hybrid Slinky exclusively on my Fender Strat. For a long time I had played with ultra-light Fender (good, but nothing more). I also tried the Rotosound (too bright for my tastes and wear out quickly) and Gibson (blah!) And a half-dozen brands that escape me. Why I chose the Hybrid Slinky? Two reasons: - First, they are manufactured by Ernie Ball, who is a true reference in the pros. The strings are always well made, with a resonant and significant longevity. - Secondly, reading an article about Jeff Beck (a little talented enough guys), I discovered that he was still using games such strings "hybrid". In short: games with high strings were very soft and serious, a little less. This makes it easy to put the solos, keeping powerful sound - and that takes good agreement - for rhythm on three serious wound strings.
The Hybrid Slinky offer just it: the "ultra light" tie for the high strings, the "light" for serious. When I tried the first time, I fell in love. It was in the 80s and passion forever.
