I am a "North Sea Coast Child" and feel very connected to the sea. So far I knew only shanties sung by a male choir in blue and white shirts with Schippermütz opn Kopp and a red scarf around the neck, accompanied by accordion and guitar, for example, gave as a supporting program of harbor festivals or cure concerts for the best one. Having grown up with shanties, however, kept my enthusiasm for the traditional form of shanties rather limited ... appeared to SANTIANO!
As the SANTIANO member Björn Both alias "Sangeet" presented on his Facebook page SANTIANO, my curiosity was aroused. I clicked on an audio CD of the song by song and was already at the first sounds blown away. So I was feverish the release of the CD "Far Side of the World" impatient contrary. Now I have at last and I'm over the moon !!! Thanks Amazon !!! -D
Once the CD starts, it says "cast off, hoist sail and full speed ahead!". So I shanties truly never experienced! The absolutely successful, relaxed and rounded blend of Shanty, Irish folk and light rock influences with catchy lyrics and insanely great for the music and the theme matching Männerstimmen force, to sing and dance. Very soulful ballads like "Far across the sea" (cover version of "David's Song"), "Garden of Eden" (cover version of "Scarborough Fair") or "The wind calling my name" simply mean only: Gänshaut!
SANTIANO load with "Until the End of the World" on a journey of a special kind. Full of adventure, aspirations, the desire for freedom and the love of the sea sting SANTIANO authentic and honest in the lake with stops in Ireland. This album is continuous just amazing !!! I am looking forward to live concerts and other albums ;-)
