I check on this "Big Knob" of captured me movie soundtrack (WAV, 48 kHz, 24 bits) in my studio at home Minimal to its technical quality. As a player acting my laptop via USB output, the signal is either via headphone output on a Sennheiser HD 25 or via XLR cable to two Adam A5X monitors. - The sound is of course within the meaning of linear and low noise. The dynamics actually much too large for my purposes - the volume control is with me usually at about 9 clock. From 12 clock, it is very loud. - In addition, I use the "Big Knob" via HDMI to the TV or watch movies (and sometimes would be happy if I got not so much done before the ears moderate quality of some programs). To toggle the DAC depends on me also behind a switch. Nevertheless, I have no problems with the automatic recognition of the device under Windows 8.1. The Upsamplingfunktionen are from my point of view as well as the graphic adornment only bling that would not need it. Because of its connections, its sound and the software a strong buy recommendation from my side.
