Flesh Tone (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Just four years ago, since Kelis released her last album, four years in which a lot has happened. In the private sector it went downhill with the marriage, it was soon followed by the joy of motherhood. Even professional standing with his record deal with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am a big change in the house, now the 29-year-old New Yorker, so also does the music again talked about. "Flesh Tone" is Kelis's latest work, an album that completely dissociates itself from their previous. No trace of R & B beats, instead they tried on the current trend of Black Music / Electronica mix. A name falls to a fast one: David Guetta. The Frenchman also here had a hand in the game, but also Benny Benassi or Boys Noize add to the ranks of the producers.

Although starts "Flesh Tone" with an intro, but that can go through as a full song. Here you can hear the same direction in which this album is going, namely that of electro beats. The intro sounding a bit mysterious and freaky, who not too fast clock and the right melodic overall picture quickly go into the ear and also Kelis unique voice blends beautifully with the new style. "22nd Century" against wummert faster and basshaltiger from the subwoofer, calls almost immediately to dance is therefore a potential hit for the clubs on the planet. Where there rather harder down to business here, begins "4th Of July (Fireworks)" much more relaxed and harmonious, combines refined energetic beat passages with a soulful piano playing, so an eventful track is produced in which Kelis properly again good for validity comes. Also "Home" manages to bring the dance floor to the quake. With the verses manages Kelis fueling the mood so slow when it then goes into the peppered with techno elements chorus, a firework is ignited, the safe enriches every ordinary Party.

The single "Acapella" is likely one or the other already know safe. She comes from the hands of David Guetta, whose sound you hears immediately, but more reminiscent of his older stuff. One can certainly think that this piece is very suitable for clubs, but has been accused of not being particularly varied. Almost the same judgment you can make on their second collaboration, "Scream", but coming here in between a quiet piano piece used the the funky, but also penetrating Beat loosens something repeatedly. With "Emancipate" Kelis makes her role as superwoman honor. Not only the production, also Kelis brimming with confidence, both sounds soulful and strong - a real firecracker and one of the best songs of "Flesh Tone". The conclusion of the stocked with only 9 tracks album make "Brave" and "Song For The Baby". While "Brave" once again prompts you to allow circling the hips, Kelis is the last song their emotional and maternal side. Although this piece is relatively fast, but cheerful and summery fresh melodic, so it from the remaining titles but strong contrasts. Great end to a successful, though getting used to the album.

Many fans of their older albums is "Flesh Tone" belching sure ill, others they will be able to determine thus inspire. One should the plate rather not compare with its predecessors, but rather with the current matters of David Guetta & Co. and since you have to say that Ms. Rogers can compete very well. Whoever departs on precisely this sound, gold with "Flesh Tone".
