I freely admit that I was initially unenthusiastic: The rock music Far Cry has left an impression that the whole album first could not satisfy all. Are you Snakes & Arrows, however some time to mature, the rest of the songs tap as so often with Rush after some time and become real pearls.
Feedback has left no doubt traces, many acoustic guitars, quiet moments, a very relaxed singing Geddy Lee and generally a strikingly restrained playing band (still virtually no keyboards). Yes, that's still Prog Rock, also because the skill of the masters course is always lurking in the background to unexpectedly jump out and just as quickly disappear again. But to whom should rush to prove something? In fact, they have actually an advantage over many other Prog band, the song is still with them still the most important, and not endless, acting constructed solos ...
The massive-gloomy quasi-title track Armor & Sword, the light-footed The Larger Bowl & Bravest Face, the instrumental The Main Monkey Business sting next Far Cry for me most likely out, but the rest of the songs hardly fall off and as so often are still a few gems emerge.
Finally there remains the great production to praise, Neil Peart as always brilliant Lyrics (emotionally, his writing style has somewhat changed, I would say), and especially the fact that three men in her 50s after more than thirty years of band history still absolutely casually class make music. A milestone's become not quite, but anything but 4 points would be an impertinence. Buy!
