This book is quite difficult to read as the scenes described in the Ravensbrück concentration camp are unsustainable. Nevertheless this is the reason why I put the maximum score because the author manages to make us feel the horror of the lives of these women, this struggle without thank you to live even one day more . The real plus of this novel is to reach us smile from time to time through the few sparks of humanity that allow these prisoners to hold despite the hunger, cold, disease and fear. Having a baby in these conditions is a miracle and Valentine Goby then tells us how this ongoing struggle is also that of infants already born old. This story is worth the read to the end even if it may be sometimes quite painful!
