+ Excellent sound quality headphones of any price range
+ EXTREME highly customizable music playback (eg. 5-band equalizer, stereo base, surround sound and much more)
+ Additional memory (micro SD) up to 32GB tested
+ Genuine FM radio (thus not usable in Bluetooth headphone cord serves as an antenna)
+ "Speaker" (sound really only for emergencies, but quite loud enough)
NEW aspects:
+ Finally a reasonable-use, modern Touchscreen
+ Finally microUSB universal connector, cover as a stand usable (we'll see how long the holding, looks a bit shaky)
+ Significant increase in the speed at the start: the reading of the music data is transferred in the background. When J3 which lasted for the memory card inserted "forever", also unbearable delay of each startup. The Z2 is practically operated immediately. Sometimes the music app depends (apparently hangs together with the read-in, this should be resolved by the "initialization" of all data probably), but after reopening functional again.
ATTENTION: internal memory not quite fill, otherwise the database structure has any problems (actually logical, you have to just remember: at least the cover is stored on the data partition). For safety's sake I let free 1GB, seems to be enough. For the latest firmware update you need
+/- As "veteran" iOS users have to be with the operating concept of Android befriend only times, but goes.
+/- Internet functions (not tested; all registration options can be consequences skip)
+/- Several Android apps (not tested)
+/- Micro HDMI (not tested)
- Cowon-character: port on MAC, the system can completely freeze. Is several times happened to me at J3, the Z2 has not yet (!!!), but we know it? External SD card not seem to be affected. SOLUTION:; connect, format, if necessary at the PC (also called VM Windows). the main memory only via PC filling (which makes the Cowon's own software, I have not tried).
CONCLUSION:
If you like the slightly quirky, but regarding the music playback exceptionally flexible Cowon concept and can make friends with Android. Real progress.
The price is of course more than generous (have the device much cheaper than Amazon Marketplace bought), while the iPod touch is indeed a "real bargain", but without leave to amend.
## EDIT (5/31/14), supplement:
- The battery will lose within a few days about 80% capacity, the unit should therefore "constantly" hanging on the charger if you want to use it spontaneously.
But + 20 hours playing time with fully charged battery seems realistic
+ Now I have plugged in a well-stocked 128 GB MSD card. ATTENTION: only to "FAT32" format, otherwise it is not recognized (with MAC problems with "Disk Utility", for WIN machines it should be special programs).
+/- Albums, songs and performers (> 20,000 files> 100GB) have apparently landed neatly in the database, "genres" (categories) do not. For me not important because all access is via well-maintained clean "folder". With access via the database "hangs" the device sometimes.
