Simple workhorse

Certainly one can pedestals around a small Xeon processor to spend more money or to personal taste trust another board manufacturers, but these are questions that do not belong in a review on this particular board.

The ASUS P8C WS was elected despite low difficulty with previous versions because it complied with the requirements imposed on a small application server within budget. That the board only a DVI video output is available is not beautiful, but provides only a marginal problem in exclusive remote maintenance during operation represents.

The P8C WS is equipped with a Xeon E3-1235 and uses a RAID 1 system (Seagate Constellation ES). For connectivity, both GB-LAN connections (1 x fixed, 1 x DHCP). Equipped with the board application server operates in 24/7 operation with a Xilence XP450 power supply quickly and easily. The installation went smoothly and without any errors and additional BIOS updates.

Ultimately, a good choice and a good combination in the server. So you could wish for a simple design with easy installation. Certainly missing the board one or another desirable feature, but there are other models or manufacturers. In operation, the Board is so far error-free and it does what it should - work. Decisive is the subjective and personal satisfaction factor.
