The "Opinel stainless, size 9" comes with good surface quality: burr-free and clean polished steel parts, properly milled and varnished wooden handle.
The lock was so stiff at the beginning, that my kids (10 and 12 years old) had no chance to open the knife. Only large quantities Ballistol and several hundred (!) Opening operations have made the system smoothly enough. Here Opinel should urgently work on the manufacturing tolerance.
Its essential purpose meets the knife: it is closed without any sharp edges comfortably loose in your pocket portable, open and locked it is suitable for opening packages and for a schnitzel.
The neatly polished stainless steel surface can be cleaned quickly: I have accordingly not hesitated to use the knife for both food as well as for packaging.
However, it should be noted that the "Opinel stainless, size 9" no crowbar is the small sheet metal sleeve between blade and handle is not suitable to transfer large leverage. Anyone who wants to open doors with this knife or accomplish larger carvings, certainly has quickly the items in hand.
Conclusion: for daily use, I can recommend the knife.
