Here this icon of pop is far more what draws the bow to their latest album Nostalgia or us this brings at least closer. Even as a young child learned Annie Lennox piano and flute, studied classical music. Very well that is no longer removed from Nostalgia. Here she devotes herself, greatly reduced sound and instrumentation, classics of jazz and blues. And as it does so, is extremely impressive. Whether "Giorgia in my Mind", "Summertime" or "You Belong to Me" already pulsing through the quality of the musicians accompanying the pieces to life but Annie Lennox brought them new. Cuddly, charming she breathes all things approachable, female eroticism so very different from the unapproachable Eurythmics Lennox.
Could the musician convince decades ago with vocal power, she delighted today with famoser control and tactile finesse. The blackness of Oleta Adams is not reached, this may disturb some in conjunction with these classics a little, simply because you would expect it. But it gives the music fresh luster, more velvet, more swing and at the same time a stringent intensity.
Annie Lennox transferred to Nostalgia twelve unforgettable pieces in our century and demonstrates how complex is her artistic oeuvre. Her voice is up to par, no grain disrupts the vibrato, no uncleanliness musical expression. Clarity and precision of recording complete the package completely. Rarely meet analytics and balance each other so successfully. For the long evenings now this album is a veritable feast. The LP also convinces by an extensive booklet and excellent low-noise compression. ki
