Six virtuoso solos

Six Transcriptions / Francis Colpron (CD)

Customer Review

Francis Colpron, artistic director of The ALL OPERATING Boréades of Montreal, militates in favor of the extension dune virtuoso repertoire of the recorder and he brilliantly demonstrates in four of the six titles of this record. While interpretations of the Partita for solo flute in A minor BWV 1013 JS.Bach and Variations on Folies d'Espagne for viola da gamba and continuo in D minor by Marin Marais are at least equal to that of existing recordings, but the originality of the CD is elsewhere. First of two Fantasies 4 and 8 of Telemann (TWV 40-17 and 40-21) from the XII Fantasias per il Violino senza Basso (Hamburg, 1735), little frequented by flutists because of their intrinsic polyphony and jaurais Favorite on voice flute (Tenor in D) rather than on the beautiful "flute soloist pastourelle But I will remember especially two flamboyant titles alone justify them buying the CD. The first is the Paganini Caprice 24, in a different version that of my full published in the French publisher Jean-Claude Soldano; as for the second, it consists of 30 of the 50 Variazioni on Gavotte Sonata Op.5 composed by Corelli and Tartini who are part of the Larte Dellarco. technical and artistic mastery of the soloist is the challenge and it would be subjective to discuss this or that stylistic choice. Finally, jexprimerai a single regret, that the program was born not more ambitious. Maybe next time ?
