It had hardly anyone so much pressure before his debut album as J. Cole. Before he has even released an album, people have compared him already with his mentor Jay-Z or Nas. His first album is also just gone through the roof, but he still has not reached the same status like his homies Drake or Kendrick Lamar. These things he responds well to his new and second album Born Sinner. On the track Let Nas Down he tells for example, he was, as No ID and Nas have called him and criticized him for his first single Work Out and thought that goes with him a lot more or a total of Jay-Z for his songs to hit as has held little radio friendly. You can tell the music and the lyrics that he has matured, but has remained true anyway. Just like the first album he has produced all the tracks himself and has again demonstrated a keen eye for guests. The name Miguel, Kendrick Lamar, James Fauntleroy, Amber Coffmann, 50 Cent, TLC, Bas and Jhene Aiko read not only good, but also hear good. Forbidden Fruit with Kendrick Lamar shows what the two are a good team and leaves a further hope for a common album and especially the song Power Trip ft. Miguel, Crooked Smile ft. TLC and Born Sinner ft. James Fauntleroy are absolutely succeeded , But there is no song that is bad and J.Cole shows behind the controls and the mic is a great performance. The sound of the record as a whole, with a few exceptions, rather quiet. The beats are very sample-heavy and yet extremely variable from song to song. In addition, 21 tracks are a decent board to the Deluxe Edition.
The album is absolutely round and creates a great atmosphere. You can back up can run through the plate from the front, sit back and relax. Who from the new Kanye West album might slow ears bleed (great album) gets the perfect balance here. Just have a look and enjoy listening to good hip hop.
