The Commedia (written more than 20 years in the early 14th century. Dante Alighieri) is both the beginning and culmination of Italian literature. You can assume that behind every sentence a universe of thought put, we (unfortunately) so you can easily open up no longer, because we simply lack the medieval and especially Christian backgrounds. Moreover, there is to this work probably more secondary literature than would fit in my apartment, because there are always new issues arising. (Nicknamed "Divina" gets the Commedia later Boccaccio added, but which happens even in the 14th century.).
If you know that the DC an epic with such a scale is (100 songs à about 100 verses) and not just is a professor of literature, it is therefore advisable to purchase a translation whose comment while reading is a great help because you would not even understand 5% of the content otherwise.
Most other (cheap) editions such as though by the DTV may be nice and cheap, because they are transmitted in the form of sealing, but miss their target by a wide. Because by trying to translate it into the DC Sealing form they pressed in a corsage and solves many words so out of their context.
This level does not this translation! Gmelin solves this problem with a sure instinct par excellence by 'simply' reflects only the content of the DC and provides it with a commentary, is unparalleled.
This issue I can therefore highly recommend for those who want to read again in the DC itself.
It should be probably noted that I am studying Italian Philology and Dante have as my central theme in my studies. Both my teachers and I use this issue and are very satisfied with the editorial depth.
Moreover, this is also the issue that can be found in most libraries.
So if you At length this issue (yes it is expensive many times, I know) but you do not have junk !! It has a timeless issue that can accompany you for life and stimulates more intensively to deal with Dante and medieval literature and deal.
