The capsule holder is solved differently than in the Lattissima. In the latter case, the capsule will disappear under a lever. When Pixie the entire assembly with the capsule accommodating coffee outlet and is advanced over a solid lever. This one does have ultimately more moving elements, but this construction gives a thoroughly solid and very well-made impression.
The same applies to the device as such. The folding device for the garaging of smaller cups I think more critically and disrupts the otherwise solid impression of Pixie. As we prepare espressos not in the office, we have those flap away.
One more word about the compatible capsules, which are now offered also in Rewe:
Even at the Lattissima have those "cheap capsules" proved unfit. The capsule could be locked only with violent force. Then you can hear literally how to "bother" the pump has to push the water through the capsule and last but not least taste the final product is not as good as the original.
In addition, these capsules are indeed biodegradable, but this also has the disadvantage that you should consume in a timely manner at part units package.
I am certainly no friend of monopolies and would be happy if there were more alternative capsules on offer, if only to increase the diversity.
But to bend the lever of Pixie to use the Rewe-capsules for a marginal price advantage, in my opinion, is not an option.
I will remain faithful to the system Nespresso because it is the fastest way to prepare good coffee and am curious if there will be in future more providers. Everyone gets his chance.
Conclusion:
The Pixie is the perfect solution to prepare delicious coffee in the smallest space. The shaky espresso cup tray do not change:
5 Stars.
UPDATE: Meanwhile, I have tested a number of compatible capsules. Recommended when it comes to service and taste, are only the Bellarom capsules that there recently at Lidl.
