The decision criteria for the choice of my daughter and me were first and foremost image quality and the possibility for RAW images, and when it gets GPS. After no Cam all had satisfactory, we gave up and decided to try the GPS FZ150. We did not regret it.
The image quality could be described as excellent. The difference between my semiprofessional Nikon D7000 SLR equipment and the FZ150 is in 95% of cases really only the 12Megapixel (FZ150) versus 16Megapixel (D7000). But how often do you need the 16MP for dina2 printouts ???
The sharpness of the images of the FZ150 from corner to corner is often better than mine with the SLR with a universal zoom. I must really expensive lenses screw onto my SLR and moreover Stopping down to stop 8 to get out in the image quality noticeably over the FZ150. Wow.
Sometimes I wonder now, why do I still mitschleppe the 7kg ...
A very small weak point is the rather short battery life. But there's quite cheap no-name batteries. This can be solved.
I also recommend, just another 52mm Skylight (lens cover) and especially to buy a polarizing filter (for blue sky and water surfaces). Make sure to buy Slim filter, otherwise there's vignetting. The favorable Walimex filters are totally ok, I can recommend.
All DX SLR owners: In the description to read "Wide 24mm equivalent". This 24mm had not torn me away. But I had forgotten to compare apples to apples. If you are using a conventional digital SLR (DX, so 1.5 crop factor), then they have a 16mm screw it, to achieve the same angle of view as the FZ150. The "24mm" are expected to full small display format. The wide angle of the FZ150 thus corresponds to a 16mm on a DX SLR! This ranges from more than.
The FZ150 is the way both for fast, uncomplicated Snapshot Photography (easy to automatic), as well as for demanding tasks, with many manual settings. Then you have, of course with the Camera Guide (and previously with photography in general) have dealt somewhat. The FZ150 leaves anyway to both.
All in all: strong buy recommendation! If you want optimum image quality, and can do without GPS - then the FZ150 is the right choice.
PS to video: to make it short: in our holiday recently all videos emerged only with the FZ150 ... The expensive video camera remained completely unused. The quality of the HD recording of the FZ150 was great. Only the sound is not quite as good - but the difference is insignificant, unless you're receiving music. Conclusion: Video fully practicable for private purposes.
Update: after I was quite impressed with the video function, I have the Camera tentatively as a second-Camera (different perspective) for semi-professional video used (to alternate between the two perspectives of a speaker). Also for the quality was perfectly adequate! Amazing. It takes in the case, only a video editing software that a subsequent white balance or a change in the color balance permits (eg CyberLink PowerDirector) - otherwise the colors (eg skin tones) of the two videos are too different to put them together to cut directly. This is true for all but Cam's - not just for this.
