This product complies with the description. I copied 80 GB of my pc to DDE in just 15 minutes under USB3. It heats poorly - normally and makes no noise. Its dimensions are an advantage that that does not detract from the quality and design. No installation to the connection in Windows 8.1. The recognition was automatic. The 500 is actually go 465 go but good enough for a primary backup (Movies, Photos, Videos, Misc Software etc ...) for a reasonable price.
