I had the Smart Cover for my iPad 3 and have therefore now put on me for my new iPad Air. Unfortunately, there are now recorded a small step backwards here. Had the predecessor still a solid metal bar with the cover was held at the site via magnetism, here is only a narrow strap of the same material as the cover itself. In this tab is again a magnet containing the the cover is attached to the side of the Air. I personally found the metal bar of the predecessor clearly better this was yet more solid and also looked better. Now here is to be feared that the plastic tab at some point by the subject and to the cover material fatigue and possibly tear. Of course, this is so far only a guess on my part, but logical and obvious would it be compared to its predecessor, where indeed practically a true hinge in the metal rail was, already. Well, but let's not grind on the wall the devil.
Furthermore, there is the cover no longer made of fine leather, but only made of plastic. Leather is now only subject to the Smart Case, but by the total envelope of the iPad takes the feien and light character of the Air. Those looking for additional protection for the back of the iPad, but I can recommend the "Belkin Snap Shield Cover". This is beautifully thin and transparent and the design of the Air remains so wonderfully preserved.
