Snappy Mau Mau

In this game I was already in 2014 became aware of the Nuremberg Toy Fair, but then appeared and it appeared not easy and I had already checked off. When I realized that it has finally been released, it must of course be played.

Appearance

I think the game around beautifully and intricately designed. The motifs on the playing cards form a successful blend of horror and humor, so that younger players will certainly not frighten. I had to laugh about so many details. The colors are beautiful luster and shine. I am a color man, therefore I like it just fine. The character cards on the other hand I like not quite as good, at least the day-pages. The figures have failed me cartoonig. In addition, I do not belong to the people, find the Caps and huge headphones inevitably cool, on the contrary. The back figures on the night-side, however, are really great: dark, eerie and intense colors, a real eye-catcher. The game manual is designed in the same style, but not overloaded with images. So you keep track.

Materials

The Mau Mau - cards are as stable as normal playing cards, for example from a Skatblatt. So it can be mixed well. The character cards are significantly larger and more stable from cardboard. Since they are usually revealed in the game, they slip so not as fast or they can not be so easily wipe off the table by mistake, when things get lively.
The game manual is, unfortunately, only a multi-folded sheet. Personally, I find nachwievor browsable instructions practical than if you have to search on a single sheet only what you want to read. For the first few games it also takes a lot of space on the table.

The Game

I recommend that you read the game manual before the first match again. So stay before hanging a few rules. Then we immediately started a game and then looked up again in more detail when a situation was unclear. So you learn directly on a sample of what usually better stuck as the entire manual to learn virtually by heart. After three games we had the hang then out already. This is therefore really fix.
Although still not very much reminded us at the first reading of the Instructions to the normal Mau Mau, clear parallels were doing in the game then but. Scene to scene, color to color, which is completely identical. If you were the character cards let out and play with the play and special cards that you could play with the game even normal Mau Mau. Since there are no numbers, even with children who still can not numbers. One could say for example that you may want something with a werewolf and must sit out one at a clock OAE.

We had been there for a two-game good care.
The special card "werewolf" blocked the ability of an opposing player and can make later that one may wish for a color (similar to the peasants in normal Mau Mau). To pit a werewolf against vampire quasi, is a cool idea, which is known as adult players from many movies.
The special card "Clock" makes the day into night. Then the character cards are turned over to the dark side and the players play as a kind of vampires on. On the game itself changes but nothing, you only get other skills. Because I would have liked a clearer distinction to the game as a human being.
The winner is of course the one who has his cards first by hand. Because the cards have no numerical values, the cards of the opponent are only counted, and two added as a bonus. The sum gets listed the winners. Who at the end of the round, the highest score wins. That's what I felt to be irritating because the regular Mau Mau is one with the highest sum indeed the losers. I think we will keep it here so. Winner of the round is then the one who earns the lower sum.

Conclusion: Visually, the vampire Mau Mau is very beautiful and colorfully decorated. Funny details ensure that children not be afraid of the scary figures. The cards make a high quality and legally robust. This guarantees many fun rounds. The game itself has clear parallels to normal Mau Mau, but also introduces a few new ideas. After just a few rounds you get the hang of and is familiar with the additional rules, then it can go round really. We could only play with two players, but had our fun. With several players (up to four players are possible) certainly makes it even more humor. The star trigger there that there is no difference in game play, whether you play as a human or vampire.
