My recommendation so I can maintain :-)

First of all, let me say that from my point of view with 1-2 TB
Limit for USB2 hard drives is usefully achieved.
If one wants to describe and read the whole thing, which takes 1-2 days!
I have two of these 1,5TByte hard drives and both were on my
Dell Dimension 9150 (thus already somewhat betagteres model) show in H2test,
that they were at least delivered error-free:
Ready, no error occurred.
Write rate: 18.7 MB / s
Read rate: 27.6 MB / s
H2testw v1.4
Ready, no error occurred.
Write rate: 22.3 MB / s
Read rate: 30.8 MB / s
H2testw v1.4
The different average speeds are easy with the utilization
the computer to explain. At the first board ran parallel are various other
Tasks that slowed the read / write access to the disk.
All in all, but that the read / write rates, which I expected.
My neighbor bought the same plate of just 6 months. 4 months ago just got
I then my first and last month, the second bought. With all three plates were
so far no problems - even though all three are not operated permanently stationary.
Criticism of the lack of on / off switch I do not see as justified as this for
one with USB drives is the rule here, and would have been recognized well in advance.
I have the drive to my computer to a shielded multiple socket in which I
Each port can be individually switched. Therefore, I do not have the problem.
Also in the living room, where my second plate hanging on a WD-TV box, I have such a
Outlet and thus also not the issue here.
A small gripe I have (and it also the deduction of points): Both the WD-TV box
as well as at the Fritz box, it happens that the hard drive so after prolonged inactivity
goes to sleep deep, that these devices can not bring them back. Since only helps power from
and turn on again. After restarting the panel is then also recognized again immediately and
works.
On the PC, I had never had this problem. Here sleeps the plate before a (energy
Saving mode), but listening when accessing and one sees immediately that she wakes up again and then
is available after 1-2 seconds.
One could of course blame the WD-Box or the Fritz box give ... but with a
older 2.5 "WD HDD I've never had the problem. The work even after days of
Inactivity on both boxes directly access.
What else remains to be said? It is extremely powerful (both in standby and during operation). She will
even during continuous access (z. B. to the aforementioned H2test) only warm but not hot.
Well ... as I said ... so far ... so good ...
