Customer Review

After a break of almost exactly 2 years versa R'n'B youngster Mario with his already already fourth album "DNA" back on stage. Since 2009 soul music so long had not so many high-class publications, such as the two years before that, so this could be a great opportunity for Mario, finally ascend from star to star, because in spite of his now but quite long career he has been more a small fish besides the big boys like Usher or R. Kelly. To let nothing pass, which invited 23-year-old, the current cream of the crop of R'n'B producer one, including among others The Runners, Jim Jonsin, Tricky Stewart, Dre & Vidal or Stargate.

Fans of Mario are likely already the single "Break Up" know, she opens the album. In the US, yet quite successful, this number is more likely not to get all good with us. Although the dull beat fits quite well to feature Gucci Mane's voice, Mario's bright organ acts here but totally out of place and so is no real harmony, the obligation of Sean Garrett as a guest number 2 was not just a stroke of luck. Miami's hit machine The Runners are the people responsible for "Thinkin 'About You". Here Mario can still show off a lot more. Smoother, yet sensual bass plus the usual summery of the Runners and very freshen synth sounds, that sounds a lot better than before. "Get Out", however, would rather for clubs. The instrumental rumbles here with powerful and deep beats from the subwoofer, then the direction of Chorus electronics again turned up, providing some nice effects, some of which take off quite far from the classic R'n'B. Overall, a decent number, but not a real hit. More to pop sounds the ballad "Soundtrack To My Broken Heart", quite fast, yet soulful and Mario delivers here one of his best performances.

Where up to this point, the productions were still very varied, the center of the plate is rather less spectacular. "Starlight", too, is a groovy club song with a penchant for pop, but remember a little too much on Ne-Yo's "Closer", the server's stationary "Stranded" and "Ooh Baby" are indeed not bad at all, but the same thing has you previously heard on dozens of other albums, which is certainly connected with the fact that Mario the same Producer undertook like just about everyone else. The third and final feature is found with the unknown Big Sean, who. In "Before She Said Hi" of the party Especially the cool Jungle drum forms a distinctive part of the song, an emotional melodies sea from the skilled hands of Dre & Vidal does the rest of this but very successful song, in which both Mario with his singing, as well as Big Sean with his casual Rap can convince. Contrast, almost modestly affects the production of "I Choose You", in a relaxed acoustic guitar in the foreground and discreetly held synths included in the background. But just as something is often the right recipe and so this title is also on "DNA" one of the highlights. Unfortunately, the rest of the songs of the plate is missing again this format only with feelings-packed Slow Jam "Do not Walk Away" can convince even completely, everything else falls under the category: very nice, but all been there before.

By "DNA" Mario is a pretty decent, but not outstanding album succeeded. First, it is safe to the productions that are often not innovative enough, but sound more like a solid standard, but on the other hand it is also Mario himself, because, unfortunately, his voice has just not quite the volume of big stars, what's in the Soul range is extremely important indeed. Who previously found Mario's music great, will be ensured satisfied here because large quantum leaps did the boy not made in the last 2 years. For the rest applies: "DNA" is a nice plate in between that you can make sure again the shelf with a clear conscience, but also missed not too much, if you let it.
