since it already heaps are "normal" reviews I have to control some information for "hobbyist". But first a few basic questions.
Energy consumption:
The lamp consumes about 260 mA at 12V, ie approximately 3,12W. Specifying 3.5W is probably an upper limit. The tolerance (differences between light sources) is a small sample at about 5%, ie the lamps are all visually equally bright (which is also my personal impression).
Brightness:
The 280lm seem visually fit, measure I can not unfortunately. This corresponds to approximately one 25W light bulb or a 20W halogen bulb. If you look directly into the light source you can see that it is many single LED.
Light color:
Again, I can understand the specification of 2900K. Not really "living room-hot" but not cold. All rooms except the living room fully ok, the living room, I would rather tend to 2700K - but is taste, and habituation thing. Unfortunately, the information on many of mine bought bulbs voted no - ie you get too unattractive light labeled 2700K.
Operating voltage / compatibility with 12V power supplies:
The lamps have an integrated switching power supply. This makes them well tolerated fluctuating 12V power supply (as with normal 12V power supplies available). I have operated on a laboratory power supply with 8V to 16V and 10.5V and 16V between them were always the same light and the same energy consumed. This means that you can safely operate at "normal" 12V power supplies that do not require a minimum load (power supplies from the "Pre-LED" time eg for halogen lamps need some stronger power consumers and do not work in some cases with LED Glühmitteln).
Dimming:
They can not be dimmed by normal means. This is due to internal switching power supply. With normal PWM dimmers do not work together. (PWM = Pulse Width Modulation = very fast on / off the LED with changing the duration of the power (pulse width), the shorter the switch-on, the darker the LED). With the RGB PWM function - LED lights with control that you get currently for sale anywhere. Dim perfect, but they also burn through when they get significantly more than 12V and you have to pay attention to the correct polarity. So here you bought the tolerance with respect. To put different voltages and the possibility that any lamps around in the GU5.3 with poor dimming. I have tentatively replaced the halogen bulbs of my bedside lamp with this lamp and the LED is very bright even at minimum setting.
Durability / life:
The first that I bought now hold a year without any loss. However, you never know if those that you bought a year ago are still identical to the current one. But there are two hints:
Low heat, the LED does not get hot, which suggests a good life. Due to the usual characteristics of LED, I expect three are connected in series. If one LED, then a group of three will be dark and light up the rest still expected. So far with me but nothing fancy.
Electrical interference:
Each switching power supply produces electromagnetic fields and is also disrupting radio signals capable. Basically here an effect is possible. For me, however, I have not noticed any fault - neither the television nor in my home automation, which runs on radio and not even when Wi-Fi or the TV.
Conclusion: Recommended as long as not to be dimmed.
