To the latter category as part of some slice of Gov't Mule, but the "Déjà Voodoo" definitely is not among them. As bad as it is written, however, it is not know God! Many a very unfair comment was as expressed in the last two years .....
No: for me it's just not aged well - my desire, they dig out and feed my player so that, very soon has decreased significantly after the publication of this disc, and now I have to force myself, like right now on the occasion of this review. But I associate with "Déjà Voodoo" still all strong musical feelings of happiness, I have but on the occasion of this tour my new hero must first experience in Cologne, Munich and Amsterdam: in autumn 2005 on their first small European flying visit on the occasion of the publication of "Déjà Voodoo ".
Symptomatic of the "DV" for me are just the songs that I liked so well shortly after publication: "Slackjaw Jezebel", "Lola Leave Your Light on" and "Mr. Man". These tracks have yet worn powerfully through the many listening and want me now so no longer at tearing off the stool. With "Silent screan" I had from the beginning, so my certain problems and that has not changed.
But is offset by at least 4 songs that still propagated among my personal highlights of artistic creation of Gov't Mule: "About to rage", "Little Toy Brain", "My seperate realitiy" and the "New World Blues". These are timeless good grenades still ennoble every set of GM!
The rest I would in the category "actually very good, but for Gov't Mule only good average" place, without that I could accept any malice from various critics sides since. In my opinion, Warren Haynes had his time -anno 2002 / 05- enormous "verhoben": ABB, Phil Lesh & Friends, which briefly targeted Reunion of Grateful Dead [The Dead named], countless concerts and CD releases, producer activities such as. for Bottle Rockets - that was just too much! The song quality has suffered undoubtedly mE, especially HAYNES had composed almost all the songs on their own instead of seeking the years fruitful co-writing with Matt Abts or Danny Louis. Meanwhile, it sets clear priorities on Gov't Mule and has recent releases very well done.
I think that the consideration of this train of thought is essential for a fair assessment of "Déjà Voodoo" .....
Unquestionably, the present "Deja Voodoo" the weakest output of Gov't Mule to date, but what does that mean ?? The vast majority of bands that I know and certainly guess would be glad and grateful to publish once in their career such disc. But at Gov't Mule course you have to create other Meaßstäbe. The fact that one 'gets thrown at' now the "DV", speaks volumes .....
Personally, I think four stars for quite a reasonable valuation, can live well with the Fan's critics as [if they want it because ....] !!
