To the album it's quickly become calm again. - Anyway, I did it then mitgekriegt not much; or quickly forgotten. In fact, the album seems to be never become really popular, and have not high "charted" ?! Nevertheless, I have the album the other day finally gained me time; out of curiosity; and because I quite "Marit Larsen" in some way -'m a fan, and in her a dyed in the wool "Rock & Roll veteran" see; creative and inspired to bursting; at least that yes in her 'big' last album was so, has this country these "Scandinavian and Rock & Roll" brought very close to us. Since "must" be so easy sometime this "Successor Album" grab here ... Listen The first time I was however very disappointed especially "inspired" the not listened to; too fell similarities to "altbekanntem" on; but above all of their own, from the predecessor album. Too much the whole thing seemed somehow as "intentional and failed"; to "smooth (this quite reasonable)" radio pop "; somehow partly also by '80s years - style." imitation of everything possible; something very shallow and inconsequential; "a" not particularly inspired in any case that the musician was not given much time to get this album out, you could get to hear, I imagined. I wanted the album therefore been quickly put back under the heading "From the resale on the Internet"; then I decided yet again, a listen briefly. Lo and behold, suddenly "work" the songs; so I was trying to insert this disc repeatedly. And somehow the whole thing seemed always smooth; audible; sometimes even really good. The more often heard, the more "acceptable" seemed the whole. However, these "Hörspezifischen peculiarities", which is why one can imagine only too easily that example did not have concerts on this album the fans absolutely love when they previously did not know the songs ... Attracting attention yet do certain similarities to other "Scandinavian and Rock" (which I am not here the great expert); but similarities to as "Emiliana Torrini" are certainly not random. Otherwise drop here amplified "US influence," straight out of the Country- area; and the Folk has indeed always liked highly awarded Miss Larsen. Otherwise, the whole thing with Pop is often enough "smoothed". The album itself has been professionally produced; the musicians are experienced; especially of course Mrs Larsen, who leaves her signature on every song; at the latest on her delicate, melancholic verträumt- acting, distinctive but pleasant voice. A trace mature Larsen seems to have become even Miss.; and even the songs seem here quite often "smooth" and somehow partly also "skilful" than even its predecessor discs. Then there is the typical "Larsen Sound", the already known; sent "knits" the Norwegian exceptional musician here their "old boots" with other, newer influences together. - Refined is that the listener the many influences from other music, although noticeable at the beginning; However, notice after repeated listening less and less, while a the songs themselves getting better like this ... Not bad! The concept of the album / its topics is similar to earlier. Above all, it goes back to love, separation and renunciation ... Here the whole thing never is but to melancholy. As is known, the rhythms are often quite idiosyncratic; but that's what makes the songs so this musician often so interesting. In terms of (insinuating) melodies Miss Larsen is anyway an almost class of its own. A little shallow total here their songs; but there are certainly also some faster numbers. Overall, however, the album again acts "as a unified whole." . And Miss Larsen proves once again that she is a Könnerin that evolved and does not stand still; However, not too many really sets new accents; remains cautious, and apparently wanted to "leave nothing to chance". They act as "modern right" not well, but not only their own, but also a lot of other material from various uses (often just older) sources.
Why just "Coming Home" was selected for the single for this album, is totally incomprehensible. Because this is also my opinion pretty much the weakest point of this album: "suitable for radio mainstream" smooth, unanspruchsvoller Pop, who looks a bit like the embarrassing attempt herewith a - to create number; an attempt that is obviously beaten missing because the song itself in Miss. Larsen's "Norwegian homebase" not right "loopholes" could. Advertising for the entire album is this song anyway not been; but luckily these are also the "level" for this album before. It would be better for such purposes certainly faster rock & roll embossed mid-tempo number "Do not move" was; truly not a bad song; also he is supposed to (late?) have been "decoupled" as another single of the disc; However, this seems to have been not noticed by the customer. The best song in my opinion the write is but the stronger Country- influenced, more upbeat mid-tempo song "Me and the Highway"; gorgeous in how the song ends in the chorus ... The "opening" of the album is the quiet, but still quite acceptable mE ballad "Keeper of the Keys". "What if" is a slower mid-tempo song, which after repeated listening but also may well develop into a catchy tune; also by the skillful strings inserts here. "I can not love you anymore" is a slower ballad of love; with distinctive country and folk (and other "US" -) influences. Well ... "Last Night" is a rather slower, rather sad, yet somehow "upbeat" ballad that has a certain "special status" on this disc; but in my opinion is at least not bad. "Have you ever" is one of those faster songs; albeit with tragic undertones; mE better song here with Ohrwurm- qualities ... "Fine Line" ... rejoins as an interesting chorus ... The album ends with the slightly melancholic acting, slower song "That Day". Well, not bad ...
My verdict: Less really innovative, though cleverly done; more "satisfying a corresponding demand"; But "bad" by no means; at least (sometimes significantly) better than this record often by various "assessed" was, or which have suggested placing the obviously international legally poor charting. Certainly not as "good" as the (sensational) predecessor "If A Song Could Get Me You"; - But who wants to always hear the same thing? Maybe a bit too shallow and a total of a little uninspiring; something "Too Smooth"; but me "good"! - Even if, for example, would have a little more "Larsen typical" rock 'n' roll "of the disc mE well done. To be heard definitely deserves more often than 1 time (only judge!).
Let's see how the "latest" slice of whole blood musician sounds that's come out quite some time ago ...
