Since my Avensis unfortunately has no roof railing, I've bought the whole Thule system for fixed-point mounting (adapter for Avensis + footpacks + square crossbars). Together with my ski racks these low version of the Thule Fußsatzes (XT 753) for normal downhill skis was sufficiently high. The carrier makes a very stable impression and could be assembled easily with the instructions. (The second assembly is then considerably faster since then the feet and possibly the ski rack are mounted properly. Nevertheless, unfortunately a few more handles are required as the standard rail-carrier). During winter holiday with ski racks there were no negative surprises.
The only drawback: I would have liked to use the square crossbars my existing Atera-rail-base support. Unfortunately, these are incompatible (at least in this respect), although it would certainly have been easy to agree on a uniform width of the opening on the bottom of the square crossbars to some (Therefore, a star less).
Overall, I am very satisfied and would recommend the base.
