I have placed this SACD curious and unprejudiced in the player, but went after a few moments then (unfortunately) but the analysis computer in the head, and it was clear what the problem with this production. But first the positives. Pavarotti - at the time of recording still refreshingly good, quite effortlessly climbs the higher realms in his his own, very special timbre. I have admired him in many roles, absolutely professionally trained voice that has always kept a piece of their original naturalness. He was the only Italian tenor of modern times, who still retained in addition to the fine nuances something "Pizza" in the voice, if one may say so casually for me. The fact that a classical Tenor opens in crossover fields, I also in principle not bad. When Pavarotti was there anyway no longer a threat because he has sung memorable anyway in so many serious games. The problem with this production is a) the Drum Set (all bad the programmed E-Drum), b) the cheap, reminiscent in part to the 80 worst times of synthesizer sounds, and c) the partially horribly kitschy background choir. These 3 ingredients spoil unfortunately a rural, simple Italian dish which prepared from the best ingredients, at certain times, a culinary delight could be. One would only times a large symphony orchestra, sometimes a pure string section, maybe here and there with some (stylish!) To take percussion, and then this would be top SACD. Because you hear that Pavarotti this production has taken seriously, and he is well versed and stylish, a real shame in this musical climes .... So 5 stars for Pavarotti, but unfortunately only a total of three. Perhaps the disk, curving through the summer in Toscana (open?) Car, but a recommendation. Technically (I only have the stereo SACD track belongs) any reference but tidy (3-4 stars).
