Let me explain: Owning a Sony Ericson Xperia PLAY on these phones taking "3.5 mm Jack" is the OMTP standard.
Most helmets of type "Headset" (handsfree) on the market are of CTIA standard.
The Headset are TRRS type connectors (due to the presence of the microphone on the headset)
What difference? A PIN inversion (wiring rather) into the jack between the two standards (!!!!).
With two types of headsets Headset (Focal Spirit ONE, and Sennheiser HD 218) I wanted to use the microphone feature using this adatateur.
Unfortunately my Sony does not reconait both helmets. So I took a TRRS to TRS adapter (without microphone jack!) To operate my headphones on my phone.
Recently Sony decide to abandon this standard on the new Xperia (model from 2012)
I STRONGLY suggest you test your headsets if you have one before buying a phone. Otherwise do not hesitate to get closer customer service!
Sony there is an adapter .. but overpriced.
