After 7 years, and the album "Fading Shades" Sandra (Mary Magdalene, Everlasting Love ...) logs with a new studio album and 11 songs back in the pop world. After the maternity leave and some vocals on the Enigma project of her husband Michael Cretu she is now back in the spotlight. With "The Wheel of Time", however, is not come out, what is after 7 years have been expected. Actually, time enough to write the songs on Sandra's body! Instead Cretu family is slightly cocky and covert all 4 songs of 11 tracks. But the self-composed tracks not so convincing as I would have expected: - It starts strongly with "Forgive Me". The beat and the gentle chorus underpin the song. The chorus ensures absolute hit qualities, but Michael Cretu, the verses disastrously managed. He distorted Sandras voice to the last detail, so that they never even this song playback can present. Nevertheless, I'm going for single release No. 3 with "Forgive Me".. - "Footprints" Impresses with Strong chorus and a catchy melody. A really nice pop song and even by Cretu pendant Wolfgang Filz (Forever) written. Really good - "Motivation", however, comes from the first cover. The song was originally written by Inker & Hamilton. The song really missing something. After a few Hördurchgängen little more game comes in the track, but it remains below average. This cover should be able to save. - "I Close My Eyes," written by the "Return to Innocence" voice Andy Jonas, is a really strong ballad. Sandra's voice does not come so therefore distorted as in a few pieces of the new album. Convincing and catchy! One of the strongest tracks! - "Perfect Touch", however, then also equal to the weakest track on the album. Although self-composed, but absolutely unoriginal and without hit qualities. Eben an album filler. First of all shame Sandras voice is again pulled by the computer-rotation Wolf here. Catastrophic end result! This song should have been rather omit. - With "Silent Running" the team Cretu goes Cover no. That version is 2, and quite successful, though not very different to the original. - "Such a Shame", the second single released is next "Perfect Touch" is the weakest track on the album Too electronically and playful acts Michael Cretu's influence on the song.. No wonder that he is not played on the radio. This cover version looks slightly embarrassed and the album has much better songs (own compositions) to offer than this remake! - "Now!" I think is the absolute strongest track of the work. Excellent chorus, pure (and not distorted) Sandra vote! The song is very catchy and has hit qualities! My insider tip! - Depeche Mode's song "Free Love" is then the cover version No. 4, but at the same time, even the best of these four.! The song had been in the original very gently, Sandra's interpretation is also very gentle. I would, however, expect more acoustic effects and more set to Sandra's pure voice. This is again totally distorted and alienated. Too bad for the song. With a little more confidence in Sandras vocal qualities here would have a hit 1a can be produced. - "Forever" is single-Release No. 1 and at the same time have been Top 40 hit in Germany.. One of the stronger tracks on the album. And Sandra's voice this time is not so distorted! It really works! - "The Wheel of Time" is a worthy title song The song is very experimental and unusual for Sandra.. Approaches of Enigma can be felt. The song is not as catchy as the previous Sandra works, exerts its effect but then with the 3rd or 4th ear canal! In its compactness a really good track and worthy conclusion! CONCLUSION: Much set to popular hits like "Silent Running". This one gets the impression that easily Cretus could write no more hits. "Now!" However, for example, proves the opposite. Maybe some tracks from other songwriters have brought more wit in the matter. Michael Cretu should also refrain from his sound Getüftel Sandra! This has weak!
