ASSEMBLY:
In our almost vertical slice I have the ball glued to the glass so deep that the backward outgoing Navi cable lies down and the Navi thus additionally supports. The flat magnet unit was mounted centrally on Navi, so the weight is distributed optimally. I would have preferred, because then optionally also could use the original bracket, but this would have overwhelmed the magnet and the Navi would constantly swung to the side an eccentric bonding on the device.
Unfavorable: The ball is quite small and the holder, in which the ball sits covers this far upwards. This range of motion of the magnetic coupling is unnecessarily restricted. Would eg glue the ball holder in the horizontal position on the dashboard, you can never turn the unit on magnets coupled to the front, as it previously abutted on the edge of the ball holder. The ball with the holder should therefore always be mounted diagonally or vertically, never horizontally!
PRACTICE:
Thanks to additional support from the cable the Navi stops with us halfway straight. Without this support it would tend cable while driving even by the light weight of the Navis with the time down. The attachment and detachment of Navis is easier than ever. The ball holder is pleasantly understated, especially without device. The Navi can still operate well on the holder, with too much pressure, of course, turned the unit.
Unfavorable: The Glue of the ball holder on the glass has come off now we have a few weeks (probably favored by summer outdoor heat), despite cable support. After Neufixierung with strong double-sided adhesive tape keeps them again for the time being.
CONCLUSION:
The idea devices in the car to fix magnetically to a ball I like to continue. Unfortunately the Steelie mE by the manufacturer, despite self-assured price, not optimally developed, which is why the aforementioned problems arise. Optimization Needs to appear to me almost all the points: Glue the holder is not ideal, the ball should be larger and less smooth, the holder should cover the ball less and the magnetic coupling should adhere much stronger.
As Navi Holder with us the Steelie works, as long as the glue holding the critiques can be however applied by analogy to other applications and does not bode well. The secure fixing of weightier devices (eg tablets) itself is not reasonably possible in the tablet version.
For the nice idea I give 2 out of 5 points, with a lot of goodwill and without evaluation of the high price!
